Weekend, Vacation and Holiday Rental

Like Avocados ?

California Avocado Festival, October 5-6-7, 2012.

Santa Barbara County is the third largest avocado producer in North America, with Carpinteria being a major contributor. It seemed like a natural food festival in the making. Why have the Festival the first weekend in October? Oddly enough, statistics show that October is one of the sunniest months of the year with the least amount of rainfall.

And there it began ... the California Avocado Festival.

The festival has evolved into one of the largest in California with three days of fabulous food, terrific music, and great safe family fun. It is one of only a few community festivals still operated in the heart of downtown..

Walk to the festival from your Carpinteria Beach condo.

Carpinteria Fine and Casual Dining

For the ultimate getaway, Carpinteria has no shortage of fine and casual restaurants. Montecito and Santa Barbara extend your choices for an evening out with an abundance of establishments. We present here just a few restaurants moments away from your beach condo in Carpinteria. Bon Appétit!

When the idea of Corktree Cellars Wine Bar and Bistro came about, it stemmed from a desire to find a place that would be like going over to a friend's house. The owners wanted to create a casual and inviting atmosphere where people could get together, relax over a glass of wine, and share some great food. They were always looking for that perfect place to go. Somewhere casual, but nice. Good selection, but not overpriced. Comfortable atmosphere without being the neighborhood bar. Delicious food that could easily be shared with friends. They decided to take the bull by the horns and do it themselves!

Island Brewing Company has been brewing in Carpinteria, CA since July, 2000 and has steadily gained a following of enthusiasts along the Santa Barbara coast. Owner and brewer Paul Wright began his brewing adventures after receiving a homebrew kit for Christmas in 1991 in Novato, California.

Paul joined the local brew club and started winning awards for his beers. Soon he found himself president and heading up the Marin County State Fair competitions, and after burning out all the burners on the stove, he was banished to brewing outdoors.

A certified beer judge, he worked at Marin Brewing Company before starting off on his own, moving south to Carpinteria. Now a family run brewery, Island Brewing Company has won awards on both the state and national level. They serve local bars, restaurants, and retail outlets and have five and fifteen-gallon kegs and 22-ounce bottles available for weddings, caterers, as well as for thirsty individuals that happen to come our way. Their brewery in beautiful downtown Carpinteria has a steady mix of interesting people and fresh, handcrafted beers.

James and Annie Sly and crew spent months remodeling the charming structure located at 686 Linden Avenue in Carpinteria, making the historic 90-year old yellow brick building into one of the Central Coast's finest restaurants.

The menu features a wide selection of fishes and seafood, aged, USDA Prime hand-cut steaks, a la carte vegetables, and more than just a little bit of Chef James Sly's forty years of experience in kitchens around the world. From the crusty bread at the beginning of the meal to finely crafted desserts at the end, your food is made right at Sly's.

Sly's features old-fashioned cuisine - James likes to say he specializes in "tired old favorites" - prepared in the traditional way by an experienced kitchen crew - and served by a professional and enthusiastic service staff.

From the iced seafood towers and oysters to the steamed mussels or clams, there are some real seafood treats. Dover sole, grilled or meuniére, challenges Local Sand Dabs for the title of "most popular".

In addition to the impeccable seafood, char-grilled steaks, and daily specials like fresh local abalone and oysters Rockefeller, Sly's features some fascinating pastas - Spaghettini "Caruso" with Marsala and chicken livers, an extremely popular Spaghettini Carbonara, with chunks of bacon, onions, cream, eggs and Parmesan cheese, Linguini with fresh clams, and an ethereal Fettucine "Alfredo" made the traditional way, without a trace of cream.

Its very casual atmosphere, basic menu and down-to-earth approach to food make Zookers Restaurant popular among locals. The owners man the kitchen here, turning out family-style cuisine. The salads are big and fresh, featuring such locally farm-grown produce as avocados, spinach and organic lettuces. Sandwiches are amply stuffed, and guests especially like the crunch of the chicken curry salad filling and the generous serving of meat in the roast beef and provolone combo.

Can’t decide on a salad or a sandwich? Then go for the popular half-and-half lunchtime combo. The dinner menu features pasta and vegetable dishes and nightly fish, beef, lamb and pork specials. Meatloaf made with turkey and mushrooms is the big evening seller.

You will be impressed by the homemade desserts, which include tiramisu, cheesecake and molten-chocolate cake. The length of the menu and variety of dishes will impress. This casual, yet elegant, bistro style restaurant in the heart of Carpinteria awaits you.
